EDGERTON, Kan. – Amid a wave of new development recently in Edgerton, the City Council on Thursday night unanimously approved an agreement with Turner & Company for a new mixed-use development at the intersection of U.S. 56 and Sunflower Road.
The development agreement calls for a combination of new residential and commercial development on approximately 60 acres along a major Edgerton and Johnson County thoroughfare.
“This is the first step in a major expansion for Edgerton,” says ElevateEdgerton! President James Oltman. “We have been working diligently for some time with a number of developers for new residential and commercial opportunities in Edgerton and are excited to see another transformational project take this first step in coming to fruition.”
Under the agreement, the developer will build at least 600 residential units and create a commercial retail district including at least 60,000 square feet that caters to both residents and visitors. The Development Agreement includes pay-as-you-go tax incentives reimbursed to the Developer for extension of critical infrastructure like roads and sanitary sewer.
“I’m excited about the possibilities for future growth along U.S. 56 and the new residents that this will bring to our community. Edgerton is a great place to live, work and play and I know it’ll be great to welcome more new faces to our community,” says Mayor Donald Roberts.
“We are eager to take this important first step with the City of Edgerton, and look forward to a great partnership with the City for years to come,” says Derek Turner, owner of Turner & Company, Inc.
