Construction crews are moving dirt at the site of the new TA Express going in Edgerton along the east side of Homestead Lane just north of at I-35. Ideally located just off the northbound exit ramp from I-35, the TA Express will provide a convenient place for Edgerton residents, motorists along I-35, or truck drivers and employees headed to Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC) to fill their tank or grab a bite to eat. A formal groundbreaking will be held once some of the restrictions on public gatherings have been lifted.
“The citizens of Edgerton, the truckers, and all the workers at LPKC deserve to have some amenities nearby. We’ve been working hard to bring new retail and commercial development to this area for years. It’s great to see construction starting and I can’t wait to stop in when the truck stop opens,” says Edgerton Mayor Donald Roberts.
The $12 million build-to-suit project will include a TA Express truck stop, including both diesel and gasoline fuel plus a convenience store stocked with quick-service food. Professional drivers servicing LPKC can park in one of the 70 parking stalls or obtain routine maintenance services at the TA service center and truck wash. All of these services and amenities are dedicated to providing great experiences for professional drivers and the general motoring public.
Developer Moussa Sobaiti says, “It feels great to officially break ground on this very exciting and much needed project. This travel plaza is very convenient for the truck drivers going to the Intermodal and LPKC and for all of the employees that work in the area. I am grateful to the City of Edgerton for their great support to make this happen.”
“We’re excited to see the construction begin on this new TA Express travel plaza. We feel this is going to be the catalyst for future development for the Homestead Lane corridor,” says ElevateEdgerton! President James Oltman. “The future is bright in Edgerton!”
Plans call for the new travel center to be finished before the end of 2020.
