Edgerton, Kan. (Sept. 14, 2026) — The Edgerton City Council has approved a significant increase to the City’s Residential Property Tax Rebate Program, raising the rebate to 40% for all owner-occupied homes in Edgerton beginning with the 2027 budget year.
Unlike many residential property tax relief programs, Edgerton’s rebate has no income requirements or other eligibility restrictions beyond owning and occupying a home within the City. The expanded program makes Edgerton the only community in Johnson County offering a property tax rebate on the City’s portion of a property tax bill to all owner-occupied homes without additional income-based restrictions.
The 40% rebate represents a substantial increase from the 10% rebate offered in 2026. The Edgerton City Council voted 4-1 to approve the increase as part of the City’s 2027 budget.
The expanded rebate is being made possible by the continued success of economic development throughout Edgerton. Several factors have strengthened the City’s financial position, including the expiration of multiple tax abatements at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC), new commercial development such as the Maverik Travel Center, and more than $21 million in new residential development over the past year.
The result is an economic development strategy that is producing benefits beyond new buildings and new investment—helping reduce the local tax burden on existing residents.

The increased rebate also demonstrates the City’s commitment to ensuring that Edgerton residents directly share in the benefits of the community’s continued growth.
With continued development at LPKC, new commercial investment and significant residential construction, Edgerton is experiencing a period of sustained economic growth that is strengthening the City’s tax base while creating opportunities to provide meaningful property tax relief to homeowners.
